Join the Save Chinatown Coalition and Writers Room for Our Streets: Part II, a collaborative story sharing workshop to build solidarity between anti-displacement movements in West Philadelphia and Chinatown.
At 4:30pm there will be an optional hour-long walking tour of Chinatown, meeting at the NE corner of 11th St and Arch St. Space is limited for the walking tour, please RSVP here.
At 5:30pm, we invite everyone to meet at the Folk Arts-Cultural Treasures Charter School (FACTS), at 1023 Callowhill St, for Our Streets: Part II. RSVP for the story sharing workshop here. No one will be turned away from the workshop if tickets are sold out.
In Part I, we met at the Dornsife Center to share stories of what community means to us, with a focus on gentrification led by the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University.
In Part II, we will meet at FACTS, a beloved community hub that was originally slated to become a parking lot for the Phillies before activists intervened. In this historic space, we will reflect on what's possible when we come together and build power, to imagine what we can do united in our current struggles against displacement.
There is limited parking available at FACTS, and we ask workshop attendees kindly allow our elders to park in their attached lot. Street parking should be available in the neighborhood.
