Yannick Lowery is a visual artist with an interdisciplinary practice based in Philadelphia, PA. Inspired by the cultural dynamics of his native New York City and present hometown, his work explores the creation of illustrated proverbs and personal narratives to guide the viewer through introspection and imaginative perpetuation. Lowery uses paper collage as an interstitial tool of navigation between other artistic mediums from sculpture, animation, and illustration. He utilizes photography, found and archived paper to employ world-creation and compile instigative, investigative waymaking devices. Ultimately, his collage works are allegorical tools for his true medium: the robust ecosystem of community that inspires him becomes central imagery for his work and participates in the concepts that inform his oeuvre.
