LAUREN
LOWE
INSTRUCTOR
Lauren Lowe is a writer and a teaching artist. She joined Writers Room as a 19-year-old, and the program quickly became the heart of her undergraduate career at Drexel University. She completed an AmeriCorps year of service as an ArtistYear Resident Teaching Artist at Paul Robeson High School and has held various roles with Writers Room’s team since then. Currently, she is the Managing Editor for Anthology 10 and teaches the community-based learning course, WRIT 290: Writers Room Experience. She is working on a nonfiction book about the gentrification she has witnessed in Philadelphia—drawing contrasts and parallels between her experiences in West Philadelphia with the history of Chinatown and her father’s involvement in political resistance to city planning decisions in the 1970s. The book also probes her own identity as a queer half-Chinese American person with roots in multiple communities. Lowe received an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University.
