INSTRUCTOR

Colin Hennessy Elliott is a clinical Assistant Professor of STEM Education and Associate Director of Teacher Education at Drexel. He earned his PhD at New York University where his dissertation was an ethnography of a high school robotics team. His current teaching and research interests focus on working in solidarity with youth, families, teachers, and communities to make justice-oriented STEM learning opportunities. Hennessy Elliott is focused on supporting teachers and learners to remake power relations in learning spaces, challenging the oppressive structures intertwined with social practices of science, STEM, and schooling. Recently, he became interested in developing partnerships to research community gardens and urban agriculture as intergenerational STEM learning spaces in Philadelphia. Previously he worked in Newark, NJ as a high school physics teacher, a volunteer non-profit leader supporting youth, and an education researcher, and before that as a Research Associate for Utah State University and the University of Colorado as part of the SchoolWide Labs team.
